Former US veteran professional golfer Doug Sanders died on Sunday at the age of 86. Sanders, one of the most popular players on the PGA Tour, won 20 titles in his professional golf career, including the Canada Open in 1956.

Sanders was famous in the golf world as ‘Peacock of the Fairways’. Sanders was a four-time runner-up in the Major Championship, including the 1970 British Open Championship, where he missed the title quite closely.

He also participated in 218 competitions on the Senior Champions Tour and hosted his own tournament ‘Doug Senders Celebrity Classic’.
