Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has called one over of Andrew Flintoff the best over of his career. Ponting was troubled by Flintoff in the 2005 Ashes Series Agest Test.
Ponting did not look comfortable in this over. The Australian captain was dismissed by Flintoff on the last ball of the over. Incidentally, Flintoff bowled a no-ball in that over and in that sense he became the seventh ball of the over.
Ponting responded to England Cricket’s tweet – “A classic reverse swing that had a top speed of over 90 mph”. England cricket gave the caption with this video – Is there an emoji to stand up to?
Ponting said the best series
Earlier, Ricky Ponting had said that the Ashes 2005 series was included in the all-time best series. However, Australia had to face defeat in this series. England won the Ashes under the captaincy of Michael Vaughan.
Ponting said during an Instagram conversation with Australian opener David Warner – ‘It was my childhood dream to play in the Ashes series. I have played eight or nine Ashes series and I have many memories about them. Some of them are good and some are not. ‘
Flintoff did amazing in that match
Andrew Flintoff changed that match on his own. He hit a half century in both innings of the match. His runs in the second innings mattered more as England were all out for 182 runs. Apart from this, with his bowling, he also took seven wickets in the match, showing brilliantly. England won the match by two runs.
