Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar feels that the Mumbai Indians team has come a long way in the recent editions of the Indian Premier League. He believes that if we look at the history of the tournament, the Mumbai Indians have a bigger edge than the Chennai Super Kings.
Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title four times in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019. Three of these four times he has defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the finals and once the Rising Pune Supergiant (2017).
Manjrekar told the official broadcaster, ‘The IPL has been going on for 12 years and if we look at the average of wins, the Chennai Super Kings look quite high but the game of Mumbai Indians also shows up. He is also winning the title.
He said, ‘Mumbai has won the IPL four times and Chennai three times but Chennai have played two seasons less. When you look at it, Mumbai has come a long way and it has been challenging Chennai for the last few years, it has been a better team than Chennai.
Comentator-turned-cricketer Manjrekar believes that the Mumbai team’s chances of winning the trophy are more than the Yellow Brigade.
He said, ‘Mumbai’s team wins when they reach the final. This is not the case with Chennai.
The match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings was to be held on March 29, which has been postponed till April 15 due to Corona virus epidemic. With the spread of the epidemic, the probability of its occurrence seems to be very low.
