Former Olympian boxer Akhil Kumar is one of several high profile players from Haryana, who are performing their duty on the roads during lockdown. ACP Traffic in Gurugram, Eastern Highway, Akhil Kumar won the gold medal in the bantamweight (53 kg) category at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Akhil is realizing that most of the players like him are learning new lessons to fight against in this difficult period due to Corona virus.
Akhil said, ‘This is a different kind of fight. When I was boxing, I almost had my own coach. I did my work myself. My aggressive way, my style was my identity. Even the coach knew, and he let me play like that.

Posting his picture on the vacant Gurugram-Delhi toll plaza, Akhil wrote that a lot goes by not teaching bad times but by teaching and explaining. He said that he tries to keep the morale of fellow policemen high by his light-hearted style and jokes.
Akhil is also counted among the most loved coaches of India and today he considers his exit from the ‘Comfort Zone’ of his boxing days. He said he would sit and take advice, follow it.
He said, ‘If you follow the’ captain ‘sitting above you, then you know about the crisis, then soon everything becomes normal again.’
Akhil said, ‘In this difficult time I am no longer like that boxer who will be happy doing his mind. Here the duty is paramount, the process is, the order, direction and responsibility of your superior officer, order and instructions. It is like maturing yourself. You are thinking less about yourself, more about others. ‘
During the lockdown, the police force was asked for extra time and Akhil is also realizing that he remembers the process. He said, ‘When I joined Policeforce around 2013, I did some sports related work. I was training in the national camp and used to speak my mind. Now I believe that I have become more patient and it is my job to listen to all the parties involved.
